STEVEN ALKIS BOGDOS was born in Corfu, Greece, Sol in 2921. Raised by a family of entrepreneurs and having shown a great interest in foreign languages from an early age, he grew up developing a variety of skills that would later prove important in his career and life. Though he wanted to attend the UEE Naval Academy, in 2939 he failed the exams due to some personal issues. He was accepted instead into the UEE Statistics and Actuarial Mathematics University. Disregarding a pending degree with honors and the highly lucrative career to follow, he dropped out shortly before graduation in 2942 to pursue the military career he always wanted.
Military Career
Struggling with family financial debts he assumed after dropping out of college, he enlisted in the UEE Army. Initially assigned as an Infantryman, he caught the eyes if his superiors while in bootcamp. Showing a talent for tactics and strategic thinking in combat, he was selected to attend specialized training at the UEE Armored Officer School.
After the 4-month training, he graduated with the rank of Cadet Officer and was posted as the 2nd-in-command of a Nova platoon, known as the “311 Leopards”. He was chosen to represent his unit in multiple training scenarios and his superiors made sure to satiate his endless thirst for knowledge by sending him to follow more specialized courses that were way above his rank. He excelled in all of them. Having made a name of himself as the most disciplined Cadet out of service the UEE Navy had seen in years, and with other volunteers looking up to him for their own training, his service came to an abrupt end in 2946, with the end of the 14-month period volunteers were allowed to be enlisted. His sole regret was that he never saw combat, as most of the Navy dismissed voluntary servicemen as meat for the grinder in the last line of defence, mostly because of their short service and low level of training in general. He was, however, promoted to 2nd Lieutenant a month prior and got placed on indefinite leave instead of being fully discharged.
Civilian Career
From 2946 to 2947 he worked a multitude of jobs just to get his financial debt cleared; courier services, retail and wholesale salesman, waiter/bartender. It all added to his skillset and made him believe more in himself. In late 2947, having worked up quite a confidence, he applied for being a fleet manager for one of the biggest trading companies in UEE space. Despite having no degree or prior experience in the field, the board of directors hired him out of 42 other candidates. He worked there until shortly after the Intergalactic Ship Expo 2948, where he made first contact with the Aurora Republic.
Aurora Republic
During one of his visits to the Intergalactic Ship Expo in 2948, he chanced upon a group of representatives of the Aurora Republic. After a couple of hours of conversation with the Republic’s Secretaries of Defense, Robin P. Hallewell and Citizen Services, Thatcher C. Monatto. The Aurora Republic’s views on a corrupt and tyrannical UEE mirrored his own. He knew change had to start somewhere, and the Republic seemed like the best chance the people of UEE would get for a better future. A mere couple of weeks after contact with Hallewell and Monatto, the “Citizen of the Aurora Republic, born in UEE space” as his new friends in the Aurora would come to call him, he won citizenship and began a new cycle of his life.
On 28 January 2950, a little over a year after achieving citizenship, and having already established strong bonds with the Aurora officials and citizens alike, Bogdos would capitalize on his professional and military experience to further the goals of the Republic. Having transitioned from a skilled Nova Platoon Commander to one of the best Vanguard Warden pilots in the Republic, the ACE-1 Eagles Commander, John “Skid” Boyd offered him the position of the ACE-1 Eagles Operations Officer.
